Who Can Join The LLCOA?

(As excerpted from the By-Laws of the LLCOA) - There are two classes of LLCOA members - VOTING Members and CONTRIBUTING Members. Any person can become a VOTING Member, "who is in sympathy with the purposes of the corporation and who is the owner or  spouse of a cottage or lot located on the shores of Lime Lake. A CONTRIBUTING Member must reside in or own property in the Town of Machias, NY."

What are the objectives of the LLCOA?

  • To mutually benefit the members of the LLCOA and the protection of owners' property on or near the shores of Lime Lake.
     

  • To provide facilities for the better enjoyment of members' properties and their tenants, and to work in cooperation with each other in the furtherance of lawful pursuits, beneficial to the members of the association, in respect to their interests, both socially and economically, as neighbors and owners or lessees of property in the Lime Lake community.
     

  • To improve and cause to be improved the community of Lime Lake as a summer and winter resort.

  • To suggest an aid in the enforcement of present and future laws relating to Lime Lake.
     

  • To provide social and athletic recreation for its members and promote all lawful sports upon Lime Lake.
     

  • What does the Association do to meet these objectives?

    The Board of Directors of the LLCOA oversees many tasks and activities, including:

  • Coordination of water quality testing and monitoring and management of fish population by the NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

  • Purchase and application of agents to control weed growth in the lake.

  • Controlling water levels through management of the dam located at the north end of the lake.

  • Working with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Dept. to ensure water safety on the lake. Included are safety patrols and boater training sessions conducted at LLCOA facilities.

  • Maintenance of the Broadbay Circle playground and sports facility for the use of all members and their guests.

  • Regularly publishing the LLCOA Newsletter.

  • Managing key-access to the LLCOA boat launch on Broadbay Circle.

  • Conducting numerous social events throughout the summer (see annual schedule of events).

  • How can I join the LLCOA?

    Annual LLCOA Membership Dues are $60.00. Upon payment, you will receive stickers to proudly display on your cottage, as well as copies of the printed Summer Activities Schedule.

    A mailing in February of each year will include a current edition of the "Lime Lake News" from the LLCOA, details on NYSDEC weed control, and your application for membership.
