Lime Lake's Oldest Known Resident
Here's a couple of pictures of one of Lime Lake's oldest residents (at least I would think that's the case).
We were using the slalom course last week and noticed something floating in the water near one of the bouys. We went to check it out and noticed it was a very large snapping turtle!
We tried to coax it to move with some paddles and splashing, but it kept coming back to the same spot. After a while we decided to get a big fish net and scoop up the old man and move him to a different spot on the lake.
When we lifted it up we noticed it had been snagged by a fish hook and line that was tangled in the slalom course bouy. We cut the fish line - not too close to its mouth - and let it go near Weaver bay.
This old guy was about 14 - 15 inches in
diameter and we estimate it weighed around 10 pounds
